Removing a hood for many can be a daunting task but the hood is actually one of the easiest car part to remove.
These are the tools you will need for the removal:
12mm socket with a socket wrench
Flat head screwdriver
Open socket wrench
1. Open the hood by releasing the lever inside the vehicle. It should be on the driver’s side just below the dashboard.
2. On the front of the vehicle, just above the Toyota emblem, slide your hand under the hood and push the hood latch to fully open the hood.
3. Disconnect the windshield washer fluid (hose)
4. Release the push pin system connecting the windshield washer fluid to the hood.
5. Using a flat head screwdriver, push the connector down (see photo) to release the windshield washer fluid. It should come right off.
6. On the hood hinge, loosen the bolts using a 12mm socket wrench.
7. Ask another person to help you hold the hood.
8. Loosen the hood struts using a flat head screwdriver. Be careful not to remove it completely as it is hard to put it back on.
9. Carefully lift off the hood hinges.
10. Remove the bolts that were loosen in Step 6
11. Lift and remove the hood.
12. Your Camry hood is now ready for hood replacement installation.
